Everything about this place is great for high quality sushi and the hot items from the kitchen. It offers good value for the quality given. The sashimi deluxe was awesome and it can with a bowl of very tasty rice. Katana was a great server and host for our table. I'll definitely be coming again.
Also, My table ordered a bunch more dishes, but I didn't take photos.
THIS IS THE BEST JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN SOUTH FLORIDA RIGHT NOW. I’m a huge foodie. I’ve been to all the top spots in Florida. I’ve had sushi all over Asia. For the price, authenticity, and quality, this place is hands down my favorite sushi spot in south Florida at the moment.
NOTE - they don’t have a sign up right now. So make sure to look closely not to miss it.
I’ve been a regular at Kaeru for quite a while now and can’t stop recommending this place enough. Every single person that I’ve brought to this place has left full, satisfied, and pleasantly surprised with the top-tier quality of food and service.
Kaeru is truly a jewel in the heart of quiet, and often boring, Pembroke Pines. Our city really needed a non-chain, family establishment like this, one we can be proud of!
If you get a chance, sit at the bar and watch Satoshi’s masterful work; the love and passion he puts into preparing each piece of sushi is a pleasure to witness. He’s also hilarious!
The kitchen team of Matsuki, Katana, and Naomi are the quiet heroes in the back, consistently creating some of the best-tasting tapa dishes you’ll taste.
Equally important, the front of the house staff is super welcoming and will always point you in the right direction. Take their recommendations!
Needless to say, this place is best enjoyed with good company. Here are a few of my favorite recommendations:
Appetizers:
- Scallops (off menu) ⭐️
- Orange Clam (off menu) ⭐️
- Cajun-Spiced Edamame
- Shishitos
- Poke Tartare
- Curry Poutine
- Korean Calamari
- Seaweed Medley Salad
Rolls:
- AJ Roll (off menu) ⭐️
- Smoky Dream ⭐️
- California Gold
- Maryland
- Tuna (classic)
- Umeshiso (end your meal here)
The sushi and sushi & sashimi rolls are an excellent value and always leave you satisfied.
Always ask to see the specials. That’s my usual go-to move and I’ve never been disappointed.
You won’t be disappointed visiting this Izakaya restaurant. Much love to the Kaeru team!
My fiancé and I are local foodies who love authentic Japanese food. Kaeru is a hidden gem we did not expect to find. It’s hard to find Kaeru at first because it’s in a plaza with several other business and no sign above but once you step into it you immediately feel transported to a local Japanese bar. The window tinting creates a cool, nighttime atmosphere away from the hot Florida sun with a projector screen playing a reel of 1950s-1960s surfer videos for a laid back late night vibe. Katano was our server for the evening and he is very knowledgeable and attentive. He gave us Sake recommendations (we love sake) and knew all the specials and dishes. I never thought we’d find a place that serves authentic yakitori like Kaeru does and it doesn’t disappoint. We bought the sashimi appetizer, flying dumplings, curry poutine, fried oysters, homemade miso soup, and Japanese crème brûlée. Everything was fresh, homemade, affordable and exquisite! Really it’s incredibly authentic food and it felt like a gift to have such delicious yakitori. We were celebrating the anniversary of my fiancé surviving a terrible accident many years ago and this place really made it such a special evening. We have found a new favorite place and we cannot wait to come again (very soon) and bring along friends.
I don't usually write reviews, I usually respond to them -
As someone managing asian restaurants, I can EASILY add to the growing five-star reviews for Kaeru Sushi & Grill.
Great asian-fusion is hard to come by. It's difficult to do fusion without losing integrity of it's origin - but somehow Kaeru not only succeeds, it thrives. The business is hungry: hungry for inspired dishes, hungry to learn from their guests, and most importantly, give an out of this world experience.
A few highlights of our dinner: Dimming the lights and singing staff for my brother's birthday, bringing squid ink (a recommendation we loved), and a takoyaki-inspired Chicken & Waffles. Do NOT leave here without trying the Chicken and Waffles.
We look forward to our next visit!
My wife and I came to visit Kaeru, and it did not disappoint. The hospitality, the food, and everything was wonderful. Katana, who greeted us with great respect and very friendly to us both. We had several dishes, which included dishes. Each one was delicious and the sushi was definitely top notch. We truly appreciate the opportunity to try out this great restaurant. We hope to come back soon to visit!
We just love coming here! There’s such a nice vibe in the atmosphere, and the service is just outstanding! Every time we go we like to try a few new things from the menu and we always leave impressed. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves sushi, of course, but also some surprisingly authentic and fresh flavors. 😋
I’m so happy they’ve been so successful since opening this hidden gem… definitely blessed! You can tell they put their whole heart into this and truly enjoy pleasing their customers. On several occasions, I’ve seen new people there very excited about having found Kaeru and wanting to return to try more items from the menu. Go try it out for yourself! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing atmosphere, spectacular service by Eric and I believe the owner. Everything tasted so fresh and filled with flavor. We had scratch made miso soup you can taste the fresh tofu, and difference in the broth, tuna yukke salad, fluke and …
